What allows the Volkswagen Atlas to travel through your hometown and to attractions beyond state borders is its standard 2.0L TSI® turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Its abilities stretch beyond producing a zippy 269 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque, given that it’s also capable of 5,000-lb. maximum towing capacity1. The standard 8-speed automatic transmission acts as a mediator between the powertrain's output and the force sent to the wheels, which is also what helps the Atlas pull a camper through the Long Island Expressway without much difficulty. When it’s a bit colder out and you’re simply visiting family for the holidays, SUV’s available Snow Mode2 is able to lessen wheel slippage by upshifting sooner than usual. You’ll have even more confidence with this model’s available AWD system, which noticeably augments stability on icy or slushy roads.
Interior
We couldn’t recommend the 2025 Volkswagen Atlas more for families who strive to create everlasting memories by consistently embarking on cross-country travels. If your household consists of four members, fold down the 3rd-row seats to expand the trunk capacity to 55 cubic. ft. That amount of space will accommodate luggage, snacks, and entertainment devices easily. Occupants in the second row have 37.6 inches of legroom to utilize, which gives your little ones room to stretch their legs in the midst of a lengthy journey. Technology
Even if you’re just taking a short trip to the Long Island Greenbelt Trail with your Volkswagen Atlas, your children may want to use the time wisely by charging their smart devices. With six USB-C ports contained in the cabin, maintaining their power won’t be an issue despite how many are brought along for the ride. The SUV’s standard Digital Cockpit Pro features a highly-configurable interface that can help you navigate there without so much as glancing over at the optional 12-inch touchscreen for help.
